Friday’s schedule starts at 1 pm and includes evening screenings of “Eloy Take Two” by Roberto Oregel and “Get Out of Your Car,” by Thom Andersen.

Q&As with the independent filmmakers will also be held.

Saturday’s schedule starts at 9:30 am with a discussion on “Emergent Movements and Practices” and ends at 5:30 pm with a roundtable discussion on future collaboration.

Events will touch on situations in Los Angeles, Buenos Aires, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Mexico City, San Salvador, Havana and Philadelphia.

Admission to the conference is free; an all-day parking pass costs $8.

The symposium is being funded through a grant from the UC Humanities Research Institute, with additional support from the UCI Department of Film and Media Studies and the Department of Spanish and Portuguese.
