The Latina Fixxxation: A History of Latinas in the Adult Industry

According to the 2024 Pornhub’s Year in Review report, “Latina” was the second most searched for term that year, surpassing the record for previous years. The demand of Latina porn searches raises many questions about the labor conditions in the adult industry and the history and evolution of the Latinx ethnic genre. This book project asks: How was that Latina category created and what is the representational work that Latinas do to stay competitive in the Latina category? Using an interdisciplinary Ethnic Studies approach that incorporates ethnography, archive, and film analysis, this book project examines how the racial logics of the industry impact the sexual representation of Latinas on screen and consequently their labor conditions in the industry.
