The group proposed establishing an ambitious University of California Pacific Worlds Initiative (UCPWI) that would include two events and a workshop program continuing into the foreseeable future. The group brought together faculty and graduate students from across the UC system to discuss how Pacific Ocean Studies as a critical focus challenges our intellectual and creative production. It also planned to produce a special journal edition on creative economies in the Pacific World.
