Californovation: A HASTAC INNOVATION In|Formation Year Event

May 7, 2007
UC San Diego

This Humanities, Arts, Science and Technnology Advanced Collaboratory (HASTAC) was organized by the UC Humanities Research Institute (UCHRI) and its director, UC Irvine professor David Theo Goldberg. It is part of a year-long set of national, and to some degree international, initiatives to promote digital humanities. The event at Calit2 will be the closing event of the year-long program, and will feature an afternoon of state of the art demo projects at the interface of humanities/arts/social sciences and the digital coming out of work being done across the University of California. These will include UCSD visual arts professor Adriene Jenik’s Calit2-sponsored SPECFLIC new-media project, and Calit2’s new Center of Interdisciplinary Science for Art, Architecture and Archaeology (CISA3). The program will end with a panel discussion featuring Calit2 director Larry Smarr, UCSD new-media expert Lev Manovich, and Cathy Davidson of Duke University.
