Care & Repair | UCHRI Open House on Climate Action Research and Graduate Student Funding Opportunity
Jan 12, 2024 / 12:00–1:00 pm
Zoom Meeting
Calling all UC PhD students in the humanities and humanistic social sciences and their advisors: come learn about climate action research and a $7,000 summer funding opportunity!
Environmental humanities and environmental justice movements are beset by questions of care, repair, and their limits. The humanities have the power to bridge scientific and local ways of knowing through the arts of responsive listening, engaged storytelling, and creative work. UCHRI will explore these capacities through our partnership in WUICAN (Wildlands-Urban Interface Climate Action Network), a multicampus, two-year collaboration among UC scholars and local land managers, tribal leaders, and interfaith groups. In this session, Professors Akua Banful (UCD) and Catherine Gudis (UCR) will share their work on climate communications and environmental justice, followed by a presentation about UCHRI’s Climate Action Institute and Summer Dissertation Fellowship for UC graduate students.
Applications for this one-time summer opportunity are due January 31, 2024! Please join us to learn more.
