Second Annual HASTAC Conference

May 22–May 24, 2008
UC Los Angeles

This year’s theme was “techno-travels” and explored the multiple ways in which place, movement, borders, and identities are renegotiated and remapped by new locative technologies. Featured projects delved into mobility as a modality of knowledge and stake out new spaces for humanistic inquiry. This year’s conference literalized and metaphorized travel, as attendees participated in sessions at Irvine, Los Angeles, San Diego, and on the connecting corridors of Southern California. Featuring Howard Rheingold, Curtis Wong, Brenda Laurel, Isaac Garcia, Richard Marciano, David Theo Goldberg, and a list of panels, demos, poster sessions, and lightning talks. Part of the celebration of the UC Presidential Humanities Initiative’s 20th Anniversary.
