Ackbar Abbas was, at one time, Chair of Comparative Literature and Co-Director of the Centre for the Study of Globalization and Cultures at Hong Kong University. Currently, he is a professor of Comparative Literature at UC Irvine. Recently, he has been returning more frequently to Hong Kong to give lectures and seminars.
