Joe Riley

Joe Riley is an artist, historian, and Ph.D. candidate at UC San Diego Visual Arts in a joint program with Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s Program for Interdisciplinary Environmental Research. His research focuses on the hydro-politics of knowledge and documentation in ocean sciences, and the commodification of marine life. Joe’s work as an artist and collaborator with the collective Futurefarmers has been exhibited at venues including Socrates Sculpture Park, Artes Mundi 7, and Sharjah Biennale 13. He holds a BFA from Cooper Union, and was previously a fellow with TBA21-Academy’s Ocean Space, and a participant in the Whitney Independent Study Program.
