Martin Devecka is the director of the Ancient Studies Program and an associate professor in the Department of Literature at UC Santa Cruz. He has been involved with the Astrobiology Initiative since its creation and is one of the founding members of the Astrobiology and Ethics reading group. Currently he is working on a book about animal citizenship in the Roman Empire.
