Vilena Figueira

Vilena Figueira is a Venezuelan artist, researcher, and photography teacher. She was born in Barquisimeto, Venezuela in 1969, and migrated to the U.S. in 2015. A few months later, accepting it as a failed attempt, she returned to Venezuela with her family. Since 2018, she has been living in Colombia. Her work she explores archives, migration, and memory. She has exhibited in Venezuela (Caracas, Mérida, Maracaibo), Mexico (Mexico DF), Colombia (Cali) and Argentina (Buenos Aires) and more recently she had a solo show in Guayaquil, Ecuador. She was recently part of the group of coordinators of Exposition Latinas: Le monde vu par les femmes d´Amérique Latine. In 2022 she was a jury member of the Ecuador FotoFest.
