The third biennial conference of the Latino Literary Cultures Project, “Latino Literature at the Edge / La literatura latina al borde,” highlights emergent genres about which it will inaugurate critical conversation: the graphic novel, the user-generated narrative software known as literatrónica, bilingual sound experiments, microrelatos, and cyberpunk. Al borde—suggestive of being at the brink, written in the margins, on the edge—retains a homophonic link to important critical formulations in Latino Studies around the border (la frontera), while moving away from what has become a rather tired critical trope for what occurs in the interstices of languages, forms, and national cultures.
