Unpredictable Weather

Funded by the Henry Luce Foundation, UCHRI is co-sponsoring a three-day workshop on unpredictable weather as a window into our precarious present at the University of Tokyo as part of its Asia Theory Network initiative. The workshop brings together scholars from the University of California (Los Angeles, Berkeley, and Irvine), Teikyo University (Japan), University of Tokyo (Japan), Tokyo Metropolitan University (Japan), Kanto Gakuin University (Japan), Ritsmeikan University (Japan), Osaka University (Japan), Soochow University (Taiwan), National Taiwan University (Taiwan), Ateneo de Manila University (Philippines), Seoul National University (Korea), Kyung Hee University (Korea), Jamia Millia Islamia University (India), Hong Kong Baptist University (China), and the University of the Witwatersrand (Johannesburg).

The Asia Theories Network is also hosting a special joint seminar discussion with the East Asian Academy for New Liberal Arts, entitled “Rethinking the (Asian) University: Institutionalising the Liberal Arts.” The seminar will be held on December 12 at the University of Tokyo.
