Annie McClanahan is Associate Professor of English at UC Irvine. She is the author of Dead Pledges: Debt, Crisis, and 21st-Century Culture (Stanford, 2016) and is currently working on a book titled “Tipwork, Microwork, Automation: Culture After the Formal Wage.”
